Modern, fresh décor with hard-wood floors, internet (and WiFi) wired desks, 40-inch flat screen televisions, and hypoallergenic pillows and duvets can be found in all of the rooms and suites, and some rooms even have private balconies.
The hotel has undertaken several eco-friendly initiatives including a solar-water heating system supplemented by propane instant heaters and in-room thermostats and lights that are connected to a card system to reduce energy waste. In April, 2011 the Florida Department of Environmental Protection certified The Silver Palms Inn as a Green Lodging Facility.
A basic, complimentary breakfast is available for guests (bagels, juice, and pastries). The pool area is a bit on the small side, but it more than adequate given the size of the property – which is limited (even though the guest rooms are spacious). Be aware the smoking is only permitted in the pool area and the hotel is very strict with this policy.Silver Palms Inn Pool Area — Photo courtesy of Silver Palms Inn
While the hotel is a pleasant and reasonably-priced stay (during non-peak times), it’s standard and doesn’t go “that extra mile,” to set itself apart and earn the “luxury” status. There is a lack of hotel activities and common areas, which many other lodgings have to encourage guests to mingle. At the Silver Palms Inn, guests are paying for the room and that’s about it. Still, for those planning on spending most of their time away from the hotel exploring the area and soaking up the attractions, Silver Palms Inn is comfortable, quiet, and close to most of the action in Key West.Brunch at the Silver Palms Inn — Photo courtesy of Silver Palms Inn
Expert Tip: Prior to your stay, familiarize yourself with the policies of the hotel.
