Miami is anything but short on places to grab a drink.
Bars, nightclubs, lounges, pool halls, pubs, breweries . . . the "Magic City" has them all, and in spades.
But not all of these places combine live entertainment with prime libations the way Wynwood's very own Gramps does.

Now, when locals tell you they want to go to Gramps, know that you aren't getting ready for a night at the bingo hall.
Going to Gramps, instead, can mean anything from attending an after-party for one of the greatest alt-rock bands of all time (such as their recent post-Jesus and Mary Chain event) or celebrating international Cassette Store Day while taking in the tunes of some sweet local bands.
If you aren't getting it yet, Gramps is home to Miami's burgeoning hipster population. You know, folks who left neighborhoods like Williamsburg and Wicker Park in search of warmer climates, though not exclusively.
In fact, it really isn't just hipsters coming to Gramps, and that's the beauty of it. Gramps is home to pretty much anyone who digs a semi-dive bar atmosphere, cheap drinks and a chill atmosphere.
Everyone is welcome.

Outside, you'll be welcomed by the promise of air conditioning, cold beer and cocktails. But that's just the tip of the iceberg.
Inside the dimly lit venue, you'll also encounter friendly bartenders to pour your drinks and make recommendations, wooden booths to relax in and some of the best beats you'll hear in Miami.
You can also take the party out back and enjoy your Moscow mule or bottle of Oculto among the picnic tables and Christmas lights.
What sets Gramps apart from the competition, though, is all the little extras.
First, there's rarely a cover (and when there is, you usually get a free shot). Then, there's their phenomenal happy hour Tuesday through Friday afternoon from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with half off almost everything, making this the go-to spot for anyone who works in the area or other barflies looking to save a buck.
Also, Miami's infamous Ms. Cheezious grilled cheese food truck, for instance, frequently parks right outside for the perfect munchies to go with Gramps' signature Ship Faced cocktail.

But it's the revolving list of events that's the highlight of the Gramps experience.
Bingo nights, vintage clothing bazaars, Waking Dead watch parties, zombie crawls, Nintendo battles, and even male burlesque shows have all happened within the confines of this inventive venue.
Currently on the happening menu is a Tuesday night Sing-along followed by Trivia Thunderdome, Thursday Ladies' Night, Nerd Night Lectures on the second Thursday of the month and Let's Sang Karaoke every last Thursday.
That's not even including special shows by various DJs, punk rock and garage bands and indie rappers, among others.
Stay in the know by following Gramps on social media, or simply drop in; there's bound to be something fun going on regardless.
Worst-case scenario, you'll enjoy fine drinks in an unpretentious atmosphere.
Best case, you'll make new friends who also dig lectures with their libations. Or win a prize at trivia. Or get to watch an awesome grindhouse film. Or discover a new, awesome comedian.
The list goes on.
