Best Lounges in Miami

Kick Back With Some Cocktails At Miami's 10 Best Lounges

Like a chameleon, Miami's nightlife exists in a variety of forms. There are neighborhood bars in every corner, and roped-off nightclubs where celebs and those who wish to be mingle in the dark. Then there are dimly-lit dives--perfect for lonely hearts and anyone looking for a good story to tell. And then of course we have the laid-back lounges of the Magic City.

These lounges are frequently composed of comfortable seating, stellar drink menus, and crowds that are a blend of sophisticated and alternative. The music at such joints is always miles above other drinking venues, and while some dancing does often go down, it's never required. Plush seating is almost always present.

Folks who have been on the scene a while know places like Purdy Lounge--a late-night venue for hip hop and latin flavors that's as Miami as it gets. Joints like Cafeina and Bardot, both popular Wynwood spots, have also been keeping crowds happy for some time.

There are plenty of newcomers, too, though. Bodega, for example, has only been buzzworthy since late 2014, but has manages to build a strong following since. And Nina's House has less than six months under its belt, but folks are already flocking to it.

If you're wondering what other lounges we think are 10Best worthy, we've got you covered.

FIFTY Miami Ultra Lounge

Located on the 50th floor of the Viceroy Hotel in Miami, the swanky FIFTY Miami Ultra Lounge is the hottest pool party in South Florida. Its pool was originally built as a club house for hotel VIP's, but today it is open to the public and is the location for fantastic drinks, wonderful food, and a pool party unlike any other. The views of Miami are jaw dropping and the people and staff are friendly and welcoming. While local enjoy it, it's certainly more the type of place reserved for special occasions and impressing out-of-towners. Check out this one of a kind venue and remember to bring your thirst and your swimming trunks.

Recommended for Lounges because: You can't ask for a better view at a lounge than FIFTY's. It's certainly on the more luxe end of our list, and totally Miami.

Priscilla's expert tip: Don't forget to check the weather forecast if you want to take a dip in their posh pool.

They have pool tables, spacious comfortable booths, and even board games to entertain you while you wait for your meal.

Recommended for Lounges because: Blackbird is a favorite amongst Magic City residents, but also welcomes tourists with open arms and stiff drinks.

Live music, album/CD release parties, DJ bashes and other activities of a musical nature await at this hip Wynwood lounge. Bardot fills a void in Miami culture by providing the venue and the menu, which includes funk, electronic, blues, singer-songwriter and more. Cocktails--at $12, less expensive than most South Beach bars and lounges (that means affordable by Miami standards) range from the signature Honey Mule (Russian Standard Vodka, Honey Syrup, Pressed Lime & Hand Crafted Ginger Served in our Signature Copper Mug) to the Skinny Jeans Margarita (Corzo Silver Tequila, Cointreau, Organic Blue Agave & Fresh Lime Juice) to the simple Brown Sugar Mojito (Bacardi dark, Brown Sugar). Top-shelf liquors abound. Overall, even if you're not into the vibe of a particular musical guest, the experience at Bardot has come to define Miami's Wynwood and Design District nightlife.

Recommended for Lounges because: Bardot is just the place for lounge lovers looking for totally intimate musical performances and super-cozy seating. Plus the decor is totally choice.

Priscilla's expert tip: Shows happen here constantly, so make sure to book tickets ahead of time to avoid the disappointment of being turned away.

Bodega is South Beach's newest taqueria bringing cheap eats and stiff drinks to locals and tourists alike. It's vibrant interior makes you hungry for those delicious pork belly tacos everyone's raving about. But it isn't just tacos. Try their Queso Frito con Salsa Ranchero for starters--it's their take on mozzarella sticks with a kick. Opt for a BBQ Carnitas Torta or maybe an Hongos Torta if you're vegetarian--torta being a Mexican-style sandwich that is hearty and delicious always. Check out their daily specials, ranging from Mahi Ceviche to Huevos Rancheros Tacos. Oh, and if you get thirsty, step through the blue door and find yourself inside the speakeasy for plenty of tequila-infused cocktails and good times!

Recommended for Lounges because: Bodega is an unusual lounge in that it moonlights as a taco joint, but who wouldn't want a taco with their lounge experience?

Priscilla's expert tip: Go to Bodega on a Saturday night if you're looking to party after your tacos (be prepared for the crowds, though), but if you're strictly hankering for tacos, go by on a different night.

Nina's House is a relatively new fixture on the South Beach scene. This up-and-coming lounge replaces the old 1930's House cocktail bar, and so far it's being touted as a hidden gem. The poolside hot spot is located inside the Confidante Hotel, and features a short list of fruit-based drinks: The Globetrotter (St. Germain's and Death's Door Gin with watermelon, basil, and ginger), the Seahorse (El Tesoro platinum tequila mixed with strawberry, mango, rosemary, lemongrass, and maraschino cherry), and of course, the Spicy Nina (made with Cana Brava rum, pineapple, honey crisp apple, cilantro, and jalapeno). There are also beers that are modestly prices for the area ($6 domestic and $7 for imports), plus wine, champagne, and light bites for when you're feeling peckish (3 types of tacos, chips and salsa, and good ol' guac for starters). Nina's has something of a boho-chic vibe--think Anthropologie catalog meets Miami's young professionals crowd. Relax poolside, have a cozy chat on that couches inside, enjoy the vintage views, or simply see where the night (and a few drinks) take you.

Recommended for Lounges because: As one of Miami's newest lounges, we're optimistic that Nina's will quickly become among the top choices for those seeking a fun and casual vibe.

Priscilla's expert tip: This is definitely a cocktail lover's type of joint. If you'd be happier with a bottle of Bud, you'd be better off spending your dollars elsewhere.

Avoid the crowds on Ocean Drive and head to Purdy's, an off-the-beaten-path location with a colorful and loyal following. If the scene grows old or if you are simply not in the mood for the nocturnal fray, Purdy's offers just the antidote. The lounge has an appealing retro rec-room aesthetic – you'll think you've entered your best friend's basement circa 1975. Think lava lamps, funky chairs and assorted board games, among other kitsch decor. Play some checkers, backgammon, or even good ole Connect Four as you enjoy a pleasant mix of music and some of the lowest drink prices around. And as for the music, well, prepare to fall in love with the beats.

Recommended for Lounges because: While Purdy has been a long-standing contender for best lounge, it continues to impress locals and tourists alike with it's casual attitude and unbeatable tunes.

Priscilla's expert tip: If you want to party on SoBe till late but don't want to go broke, Purdy is your place.

Komodo is brought to the masses by David Grutman, whom you may know of as the man behind South Beach's STORY and the unforgettable LIV inside the Fontainebleau. With Komodo, he's created a one-of-a-king eatery and venue features a 300-seat dining area and three bars with impressive cocktail lists. Priscilla's expert tip: Definitely dine here before heading up to the lounge. Worth every penny.

This snazzy, Downtown Miami lounge popped up on the scene in 2014 and has since become a favorite haunt for cocktail-loving locals. LILT touts itself as a "sophisticated alternative" to the downtown scene, boasting a Cocktail Hour (that's the high-class alternative to a happy hour) that features $10 glasses of Taittinger and Laurent Perrier, plus champagne cocktails and more from 8 to 10 p.m. That means you're free to hit any other happy hour in the neighborhood first and then spend the rest of your evening here in style. Bring your best girlfriends for a ladies night and sit on the outdoor patio while watching the beautiful yachts, or take a chance and sit at the round bar--you never know who you'll meet in a chic place like this. Drop by on a Friday night and enjoy some old school hip hop, or try a Saturday for some deep house. LILT is just the place to get lit with class.

Recommended for Lounges because: LILT is a truly chic lounge, and with a happy hour that covers hours most places don't, it manages to rise above the rest.

Priscilla's expert tip: Parking can be rough, so consider catching an Uber or Lyft out.
