10 Best Places to Hit the Town near Malabar, Florida

Malabar is a small town on the Space Coast, Fla., not far from Palm Bay and Melbourne. Although it's far from the most popular tourist destination in Brevard County – the hoppin' Cocoa Beach and Port Canaveral areas take that honor – Malabar is a still a lovely vacation spot, located right on the Indian River. 

Nightlife here is not wild, but you can enjoy a relaxing game of pool or tip back a beer at a handful of establishments within a 10-minute drive.

Three bars rise to the top of the nightlife scene in Malabar. Malabar Mo's features live beer, outdoor seating and a menu of munchies late until 11 p.m. The Old Fish House Bar and Grill has a long history in Brevard County, as the site of various fishing operations over the past century. Today, it's a great place to cool off with a frozen drink on the patio with a view of the water.

Siggy's American Bar is another top place to go out near Malabar. Siggy's has been a locally run staple for 25 years. Look for food specials, like quarter wings, and plenty of fun games to keep your entertained. Play beer pong, sing karaoke or try your luck and skill at poker.

Grab a quick foot-long "Mork Dog" at the window, or sit down for a Beach Bum meal, like a crab cake with a handful of sides. Everything here's casual. After all, Long Doggers calls itself a "radically relaxed" grill and brew. Bonus: People with allergies will appreciate the full gluten-free menu. This Melbourne-based bar is huge, with more than 40 TVs and screens (including one oversized screen) that stream everything sport, including the NFL Sunday Ticket, the full DirecTV Commercial Choice Plus line-up and more. Bottom line: If your team is playing, you can watch it here. Off the Traxx has more than 350 seats and features surprisingly delicious food. Try the pizza. This bar also organizes interactive, fun games, including putting challenges, corn hole, pool, darts, video games, a dance floor, stage and other activities. Head out back, where you can find an outdoor bar that takes advantage of the Florida warmth. Off the Traxx also organizes parties, special events and contests (from breakdancing to bikinis).

One of the reasons this good, ol' American-style bar is a fun place to go out is it features specials throughout the week. Although it's located in a shopping center, this bar is family-run and involved in the Space Coast community for 25 years. Only 10 minutes from Malabar on the coast of Grant, Fla., the Old Fish House offers the only full bar in the area, complete with beer, wine, frozen drinks and cocktails. You can often enjoy them to live music outside on the patio with a water view. Or if you prefer to cool off inside, pull up a seat in the indoor dining room. The Old Fish House has a long history on the Space Coast. The history of the building dates back to the fishing industry for nearly a century. Back in the '30s, it was known as the Hudgins Fish Co. and has had many different faces since. When it was transformed into a bar and grill, old fishing artifacts were unearthed. See some on site and learn a bit about the angler history in the area at this unique bar.
