Those who lived during the '60s or have an affinity for that area will find this esteemed museum a particular favorite. Permanent exhibits detail the presidency of John F. Kennedy and the mystique of the First Lady, Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy, and also explore the context of the Cuban Missile Crisis. Other traveling exhibits address such historical periods as Ancient Egypt, Czarist Russia, and the era of the Titanic. The museum, an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution, occupies a renovated department store.
