Are you fresh off the plane from the frozen North? Looking to shed the parka and stick your feet in some flip-flops? Want to dive into the first drink you see sporting a miniature umbrella? If this sounds like you, then make sure to check out Tampa nightspots that take full advantage of our starry nights, water views and bay breezes even during winter.
The Sail Pavilion is a 360-degree open-air bar and bistro located on the waterfront in downtown Tampa. This hotspot is al fresco partying at its best. Right in the heart of the action, this bar is convenient to the Convention Center, Port of Tampa, Tampa Bay Times Forum and downtown hotels. The location makes this a popular place to meet up with friends before or after downtown events. In addition to the beautiful, waterfront location, The Sail Pavilion is popular with both locals and visitors for their in-house infused vodkas and decent selection of local craft beers. So grab your flip-flops, and find yourself a chair! As night falls, the party starts at Hogan's Beach and other Tampa nightspots — Photo courtesy of Hogan's Beach
The beachiest beach bars in Tampa are located on Rocky Point. Just minutes from the airport, this area hosts many of Tampa’s best hotels and it is here that you will find Hogan’s Beach. Situated in the Best Western Bay Harbor Hotel, Hogan’s features an amazing outdoor party area. There’s a private beach with boat access, a tiki bar and a beach volleyball court. They even light campfires on chilly nights. You can party into the wee hours, dancing in the sand to the music of the DJ or live band. The experience is complete with an outdoor light show. And, yes - if you are a fan of wrestler Hulk Hogan, you might just run into him while you’re there.
If you’re looking for a more authentic Florida experience - as in a laid-back waterfront dive bar - then Rick’s on the River is the spot for you. With plenty of outdoor seating and great views of the Hillsborough River, Rick’s is very popular with locals but is a little off the beaten tourist path. The spot is adjacent to a boat ramp and docks, so many boaters stop here after a long day enjoying the river. Live entertainment is featured daily with a one or two piece band belting out classic tunes. Here, you will also find some of the best, freshest oysters and clams in town. Grab a beer and a dozen on the half shell and enjoy. Don’t forget the hot sauce!
