The current record of 64 trucks was set last April at a food truck rally in Miami at Magic City Casino.
The goal for Tampa’s event that organizers have dubbed “The World’s Largest Foodtruck Fest” (not very original, but it’s descriptive) is 100 trucks, but early indications are that the number might be exceeded and new registrations are being taken all the way up to August 25. Vendors from as far away as Toronto have expressed interest. There are trucks coming from Texas, Georgia and South Carolina, as well as from all over Florida (including Miami).
Speaking of Miami, there are rumors that the organizers of the Miami event are not happy about their record being broken – especially so quickly. They may not be happy, but the visiting and resident foodies in Tampa sure will be. With the best-of-the-best trucks in attendance and every genre of food represented, the rally promises to provide lucky attendees with a delectable smorgasbord of dining options.
In addition to the amazing food offerings, organizers are also promising free live music all day headlined by indie-rock band, Escape Tonight, from just across the Bay in St. Petersburg. The World’s Largest Foodtruck Fest will take place from 11:00 am – 8:00 pm on August 31, 2013 at the Florida State Fairgrounds in Tampa, Florida. The event is free to attend, but there is a $6.00 parking fee.
