Tampa might not be the first place that comes to mind when you think of romance, but there are many places and activities in this Florida city that are guaranteed to turn up the heat on any relationship. If you’re in town (for a cruise, perhaps) and have a little time to spend with your loved one exploring Tampa, then this itinerary is for you. You can take advantage of this half-day itinerary in the morning or afternoon. But, of course, if you do it in the afternoon, you'll get the added advantage of one of Tampa’s brilliantly romantic sunsets.
If you have a fondness for water activities, the perfect way to start your romantic adventure is to rent an electric boat from the eBoat kiosk, located in the heart of downtown Tampa. The cost starts at $75 per hour, and you don’t need a license to rent one.
These charming, easy-to-operate and silent boats are a relaxing way to explore Tampa’s downtown waterways while you cozy up with your loved one. Head up Hillsborough River to appreciate the beautiful bridges, parks and cultural landmarks that line the banks.
After your return, you might want to stop for a cocktail at Sail Pavilion before continuing on your way. This open-air establishment offers cool drinks, a relaxing atmosphere and great waterfront views. Unfortunately, this is only an option for an afternoon outing, as Sail Pavilion doesn't open until 2 p.m. on weekdays and 11 a.m. on weekends.

When you’re ready, grab your partner’s hand and go for a romantic stroll up Tampa’s new Riverwalk. Head toward the Convention Center and just keep on going. The walkway is wide and well marked, so you can’t lose your way. You'll get to enjoy a different perspective of the cityscape you just explored by water.
Along the way, you will pass through beautiful park spaces and interpretive displays that will explain about Tampa’s past. If you have time, you can explore the Florida Museum of Photographic Arts. A highlight of the Tampa art scene, this beloved gallery is one of only a few museums in the U.S. dedicated solely to photography.
Your final destination is an intimate and romantic meal at Malio’s, one of downtown’s favorite date night destinations. The décor is modern classic and the ambiance is romantic, day or night, with dim lighting and intimate seating.
Take advantage of the views offered by Malio's location on Hillsborough River by requesting to sit on the upper tier of the restaurant. Order a delicious bottle of wine from their extensive wine list, hold hands and gaze across the river at the exotic spires of the University of Tampa.
Now that’s romantic!
