The important thing to know is that Librarie Ulysse is the first, and still only, book shop that is wholly dedicated to travel literature and guide books. The second most important thing to know is that the word 'librairie' in French actually means bookshop. (The word for library is 'bibliotheque' in French).
This historical shop on the Ile St.-Louis makes for a great excuse to sightsee on this charming little island in the center of Paris. Plan for some time among the books, as the shop is chock full. Then, once you've made your selection of travel literature and guidebooks, find yourself a seat in one of the cozy cafes the little island neighborhood is famous for, and spend the afternoon reading and sipping hot chocolate or mulled wine.
And, if so inclined, have a peek into the Eglise Saint-Louis, the historic church just across from the book shop.

- Things to Do in December: "This is one of the oldest bookshops in Paris. It is also the only one purely devoted to travel literature and guidebooks. That it is found on the picturesque Ile St.-Louis makes for a good reason to sightsee in the neighborhood. And, yes, the famous ice cream shop, Berthillon, is just across the street, as is the Eglise Saint-Louis."
- Best for Things to Do in December Because: This is the exclusive bookshop in Paris where you can find a Dog Lover's Guide To City of Light, Paris on 4 Paws.
