For The Best, Most Welcoming Hotel Experiences In And Around Paris

The hotels on this list have been curated expressly for their luxury, their warmth, their convenient locations and gracious amenities and, above all, for that safe haven they afford you and your loved ones during your stay in Paris, the City of Lights.

Paris is the city that coined the term Palace for its ultra-luxury hotels, of which there are now more than a handful. But rather than pack this list exclusively with Palace Hotels, I've included only two and for the rest on this list you will find a range of 5-star hotels, like the Hotel Banke 5*, to luxury boutique hotels. The five-star luxury hotels are becoming more numerous each year, with the biggest slice of the Paris pie still taken by the three- and four-star hotels. Those have felt competition recently  from the burgeoning vacation apartment rentals to be found in the city. The trend of rent-your-spare-room-to-vacationers has quickly become the hottest thing in Paris, too, as the city's tourism trends follow global trends.

The range of quality accommodations you can find in Paris is staggering; From dens of luxury and opulence to cosy little apartment-like dwellings. The city offers beautiful accommodations whether you are visiting on business, leisure or for family reasons. You can also find hotels with babysitting services and activities designed for the kids for that date-night with your spouse or the afternoon at the spa.

A wonderful gem to keep in mind is the Auberge du Jeu de Paume located in Chantilly, which is halfway between Paris and Charles de Gaulle airport. This makes it a super convenient stay for a relaxing few days on your way into or out of the city. The idyllic setting, full of chateaux, grand stables and equestrian culture will make you feel to the manor born.

All of these hotels on this list have flawless service and amenities such as WiFi and other standards the international traveler has come to expect. The classic hotels often have a dedicated breakfast room where you can sneak a peek at your fellow travelers. Business and leisure travelers may opt for a hotel with a good concierge, for those must-have dinner reservations or concert tickets. Paris... there's nothing like breakfast in bed of croissants and café au lait while overlooking the Eiffel Tower, the Sacré Coeur or the Jardin de Luxembourg from your top-floor balcony.

This is Paris' newest Palace hotel and one that stands fully apart from the others. When you're looking for a notch above 5-star, real luxury connoisseurs know to seek out a Parisian palace hotel. Until now, the properties in that class were all big, opulent, 100-room+ hotels. But La Reserve Hotel & Spa has now just changed all that. Opulent, yes, every inch. But it's also on the side of warm, cozy, boutique and ever so exclusive. The on-site restaurant is the restaurant awarded 2 Michelin stars this past year. And now with a new GM, famous among the world's VIP jetsetters for knowing them all on a first name basis, the property has that personal, je ne sais quoi French touch that's befitting of a Michel Reybier La Reserve property. Interior design is by Jacques Garcia and in addition to the bar and restaurant, the spa is top-shelf, too.

Recommended for Best Hotels because: This perfectly placed boutique hotel happens to also be a Luxury Palace. Your neighbors, by the way, are Brigitte and Emmanuel. Mais, Oui, those Macrons!

Hotel de Crillon A Rosewood Hotel

This is one of the most ancient, historical luxury hotels not just in France, but in the world. Built first under King Louis XV's patronage in 1758, it was inaugurated as a luxury hotel, now a palace, in 1909. It is the only hotel that graces the Place de la Concorde. Over the past century, celebrated couples have sojourned here: William Randolph Hearst with Marion Davies and Douglas Fairbanks honeymooned here with his Mary Pickford, who famously waved from their balcony overlooking the Place. Staying at the Hotel de Crillon, now a Rosewood Hotels property, will mark a page in your Life's Best Moments book. But even having a drink on the newly opened Concorde Terrasse, at the iconic Les Ambassadeurs, or having your nails and hair done or a facial/massage for two at the Sense Spa with Sisley products is assured to be the highlight of any Paris vacation.

Recommended for Best Hotels because: Unparalleled luxury and splendor is what the Palace Hotel experience offers you here on the Place de la Concorde.

A dedicated butler sees to your every whim, round-the-clock, from the moment you check-in. Amenities also include one of Paris's largest hotel swimming pools, which adjoins the one-of-a-kind Shiseido USpa. Upon arrival, children are gifted a treasure map to search for the hotel's mascot, a ladybug (which, everyone knows, brings good luck). Dignified Luxury. This term refers to Fouquet's Leading Green Certification ethics and its philosophy that the environment need not be abandoned in the quest for luxury. Step foot inside this historical icon located where the Avenue George V meets the Champs-Elysées and you would never guess that the sumptuous gold-and-velvet Jacques Garcia designs surrounding you are sustainably certified. Fouquet's is synonymous with French film stars. Each year the winners of the Cesar's, France's "Oscar's", are féted here with a gala dinner.
