Attend lectures, from artists and authors, and browse the paintings, photographs, and other artwork at the Hammonds House Museum. The museum is named after Dr. Otis Hammonds, a physician and art lover who had over 250 pieces in his collection. Hammonds owned the home in the 1970s, but the house dates back to about 1872. When Fulton County acquired the home, many of the furnishings that Hammonds owned were also acquired. The collection now includes more than 350 pieces of art, the majority of the works are created by African American artists. A library of books, videos, and articles are located in the Hammonds House Museum resource center, which is open by appointment.
