Chive Sea Bar and Lounge Adds Swagger to Savannah's Nightlife

The owners of Savannah restaurants Ele Fine Fusion, The King and I, Tangerine and Fire Street Food have already mastered the art of Asian cuisine. With their newest venture, Chive Sea Bar and Lounge, Ele Tran and her husband Sean Thongsiri are proving they’re equally adept at spicing up Savannah’s nightlife scene.

Enjoying a prime location on Broughton Street in the city’s historic district, Chive was inspired by the decadence of the 1920s. That feel is immediately present in Chive’s décor, which features booths that can be closed off with curtains and a magnificent cascading chandelier that resembles a flapper’s headdress.

The cocktail menu also evokes the era, with classic creations such as the Rockefeller - which combines Crown Royal Black, cointreau and ginger ale - and The Sidecar, a popular ‘20s cocktail with brandy, triple sec and freshly squeezed citrus.

Of course, any establishment with Tran and Thongsiri’s stamp is bound to have outstanding cuisine, and Chive is no exception. The dinner menu boasts a mouthwatering selection of Asian- and Southern-inspired appetizers, salads and soups. (The sweet potato and lobster soup is a prime example of how they’ve perfectly blended the two cuisines.) The raw bar features everything from quail to shrimp cocktail.

For those looking for more traditional entrees, Chive’s menu also includes several main course dishes such as salmon, stuffed striped bass, beef carpaccio and venison tenderloins.

Chive’s sushi menu features a variety of rolls, with inventive choices such as the White Elephant - a roll with spicy tuna and avocado topped with white tuna, spicy sauce and masago - and the Sharky, a deep-fried roll with several kinds of fish, cream cheese and avocado.

Chive Sea Bar and Lounge is open until 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and regularly features live entertainment from some of the city’s best musicians. The lounge also specializes in creating one-of-a-kind experiences for special events such as birthday parties and bachelor parties.
