One of Savannah’s best-loved pubs just got a swanky new neighbor. Winston’s Wine Cellar, located on the lower level of Churchill’s Pub & Restaurant and run by the Churchill’s team, opened its doors recently, making it Savannah’s only dedicated wine bar. The renovated space is both sophisticated and cozy, featuring exposed brick, dim lighting and a custom-made wine vault that showcases more than 100 varieties of wine.
Winston’s extensive wine list includes both imported and domestic wines by the bottle and by the glass. Prices range from reasonable–$21 for a 2010 bottle of Chateau Ste. Michelle Riesling–to special occasion-worthy–$190 for a 2008 bottle of Buccella Cabernet Sauvignon. Most of the wines, however, are in the $30-$40 per bottle range, with individual glasses averaging about $9.

The Historic District wine bar also offers a full selection of classic cocktails, along with a small plate menu created by executive chef Glen Benskin. The menu features local and imported cheeses, Charcuterie, imported olives and nuts, several salads, and a sophisticated selection of small plate dishes perfect for sharing. Choices include pulled pork sliders, cauliflower gratin with a parmesan panko crust, Guinness-braised beef short ribs with goat cheese grits, and pan seared scallops on a bed of arugula with pumpkin seed pesto.
