You’ve always wanted to try a bicycle built for two, but what about one built for 15? If you’re up for an adventure and don’t mind sharing pedaling duties, then book a ticket with Savannah Slow Ride and get ready to experience Downtown Savannah in a completely new way.
The eco-friendly, locally made vehicles have space for 15 pedalers, plus a seat up front for the guide, who steers the bicycle through the city streets. The top of the bike is covered, providing shelter from the elements, and a table circles the interior, enabling guests to bring food or drinks on their journey. Per Savannah’s open container law, alcohol is permitted as long as the vehicle stays within the approved boundaries of the Historic District and the drinks are in city-sanctioned to-go cups.
Savannah Slow Ride offers several guided tours of the city, including Crawling Through History, an entertaining two-hour excursion through the Historic District that incorporates history, trivia and interesting stories, and the “Holy Savannah” Church Crawl, which visits many Downtown places of worship. Other options include the Slow Ride Pub Crawl, a 21-and-up tour that visits local watering holes, and the “BYOB” Bring Your Own Bags tour, in which guests visit some of the city’s best boutiques, antique stores and coffee shops. Tours can also be customized, and groups can reserve the entire vehicle for their own private activity.
