You can get a baked potato loaded with cheese, bacon and sour cream just about anywhere. But if you’re craving something a little more modern - like a sweet potato topped with miso compound butter, soy sauce, bamboo shoots, sesame seeds and sriracha sauce - then head to restaurant Spudnik, the newest addition to Savannah’s Historic District.

Spudnik’s concept is simple: choose between a russet potato or sweet potato, then select your toppings or choose from one of the eatery’s unique creations. There’s still your standard loaded baked potato (The Classic is topped with cheddar cheese, chives, sour cream and butter.), but Spudnik really shines in its unusual combinations.
The Athenian is a russet potato loaded with feta cheese, roasted red pepper hummus, olive oil, black olives and capers. The Sugar Mama is a heavenly treat featuring fresh-toasted almonds, cinnamon compound butter and marshmallows. The restaurant's prices are reasonable: potatoes range from $5 - $7 each.
In addition to its potato menu, Spudnik offers beverages including fountain sodas, fruit juice, chocolate milk and Starbucks' frappuccinos. The service is fast, too. The restaurant’s interior features a unique floor made up of tens of thousands of pennies, and the eatery offers limited seating for those who want to dine in.
After getting their potato fix, diners can check out nearby Broughton Street shops, including Marc by Marc Jacobs, ZIA Boutique and Chocolat by Adam Turoni.
