Vassilenas

Vassilenas. A place with a long history. It first opened in 1920 at Maniatika of Piraeus, originally as a grocery store, by the grandfather of today's owner Thanasi Vassilena. A restaurant that for more than 90 years has been welcoming artists, politicians and guests from the neighborhood who remain a faithful clientele, all having in common the desire to taste something extraordinary. Today, that small grocery store has been transformed into one of the main ambassadors of Greek high cuisine. It consists one of the most unique expressions of modern Greek cooking, with tasting balance and clean flavors. Vassilenas, being the first restaurant to establish the menu degustation in Greece, all the way back in 1928, still proposes a 10-dish menu, which is being renewed according to the seasonality of the ingredients. At the same time the variety of wine labels ideally accompanies the gastronomic experience, covering a wide range of producers from Greek and international vineyards.
