Ropa Lavada, which means laundry in Spanish, is the original name of an eccentric boutique in Kolonaki, famous for their provocative window displays. The decor is centered on the concept of laundry, with washing machines, lighting in the shape of pails, bathroom inspired cubicles for trying on clothes. The owners, who have experience in theater, directing and costume design, change the decor often, with surprising scenic results which sometimes shock passersby. T-shirts with graffiti designs from Barcelona streets, retro skirts and dresses, fifties and sixties high heeled shoes are some of the fashion statements at Ropa Lavada. The comfortable shoes with rubber soles and organic dyes are a favorite. Clothes and accessories are by small, alternative, reasonably priced, Greek and international designers, and many are handmade, such as the jewelry and the bags, or handpainted.
