Resting in the rainforest of the Big Island, far inland in the cool climate of Volcano Village, Kilauea Lodge offers twelve rooms on property as well as four off-site units located nearby. A far cry from large hotels and extravagant resorts, the Kilauea Lodge is composed of private rooms and a gourmet restaurant renowned for its unique menu.

While several rooms offer a balcony, fireplaces and common areas, all of them have access to a covered hot tub - which is a dream come true on chilly nights. Full breakfasts are included with the room rates, and wireless Internet is available. Although traditional Hawaiian decor covers the rooms (Think Hawaiian quilts and hardwoods.), the overall feeling is of a winter lodge in the Continental U.S.
Things to see and do such as hiking through Hawaii Volcano National Park, beaching it at Punalu'u Black Sand Beach and venturing into Hilo are all within a half hour in each direction. On-property rooms range from $190 to $205 per night, and off-property homes range from $220 to $295 for entire cottages.
Although this is a wonderful place for families, the romance and privacy factors alone make it a dream come true for couples. Book well in advance, since space is limited.
