About Kamuela

Kamuela is the lush green inland area of the Big Island with rolling hills and a cowboy style theme. With low key country style eateries, and relaxed after dark fun, Kamuela is a gorgeous and laid back part of the island that shouldn't be missed.

See & Do

Parker Ranch, one of America's oldest and largest ranches, was founded in 1847. Visitors venture here to find out about paniolos (Hawaiian cowboys) and to see what ranch life is like in paradise. You can tour Parker's historic homes and view heirloom art and furnishings and learn about the ranch's long history. Horseback and ATV tours are available, along with cattle country tours that expose the workings of the ranch and the beauty of the landscape.

Eat

Nestled in a lovely garden, here you will be enjoy unobtrusive service and a veritable banquet of choices. The Bay Terrace is a popular morning destination for both locals and visitors. Breakfast buffets overflow with scrumptious goodies, from pastries and local fruit to banana-stuffed French toast and eggs Florentine – the variety and quantity will keep you full all day. Fresh Kona coffee flows continuously, and you can fill up on either a lighter breakfast or a hearty traditional meal.

Party

A native of Lorraine, France, Daniel Thiebaut brings to the Big Island distinct French flair and dazzles patrons with his propensity for adding Asian or Polynesian culinary touches. The restaurant, located in the historic Chock In Store building (circa 1900), is set in verdant Waimea ranch country and is a favorite with romantics, who adore its antiques, local curiosities, uniquely appointed tables, and multi-hued Sig Zane fabrics (a must for any Hawaiian restaurant worth its salt).

Shop

For high end shopping stop by the King's Shops, a gorgeous shopping center with just about everything you could need or want. This is where you can find upscale resort wear to accent your vacation, home decor and souvenirs to bring home, and lovely art and gifts. You can even find very nice jewelry for that Hawaiian proposal.
