Breakers on the North Shore in Haleiwa is a local - and visitor - go to spot for late night fun. This is a 21 and over only spot around nine or ten o`clock. Earlier in the day the place is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It falls into the category of sports bar, but with a funky Polynesian surf style atmosphere. The fare on the menu is somewhat common, such as steak, stir fry, seafood, burgers, awesome fish and chips, and appetizers. Most have a Pacific and/or Asian twist like calamari. This is owned by professional surfer Benji Wheatherly whose family still runs it.
Every night Breakers has a pretty lively bar scene. On more mellow week nights you may find a medium to large size bar crowd and on weekends it’s borderline nightclub wild. You may find live local or out of town music (usually Hawaiian or reggae), and more commonly DJ nights with laser lights and wild dancing. Lunch ranges from $10 to $15 and dinner can run from around $15 to $25. There’s usually a cover charge for DJ or music nights that is usually around $10. You’ll always find a mix of long term locals from all over Oahu, military, and those from out of town.
