Winter has arrived, and for surfers and spectators all around the world, it means that huge waves are on the Oahu horizon. The North Shore is the mecca of surfing, for both amateurs and professionals, and it's just getting going for the season.
Not only will soul surfers be surfing their brains out for the next few months, but professional surfers from all over the world will be arriving on the North Shore to compete in the most elite contests with the Van's Triple Crown of Surfing. The Triple Crown holds competitions at the North Shore's heaviest spots - Haleiwa Beach Park, Sunset Beach, and Pipeline.
If you're visiting Honolulu this season, don't miss out on a visit to the North Shore. Even for those that don't surf, hanging out on the fine white sand beach while watching the world's best waves and most talented surfers is a treat that can't be missed.
Traffic can get bad, so come out in the morning and hit the beach with your camera, lunch, and whatever beach gear you'll need. Make sure to go to the hot surf spots mentioned above to get front row seats for the show.
