Fashion-forward women's apparel and accessories aplenty at Bella Gypsy — Photo courtesy of Bella Gypsy
Bella Gypsy recently moved from its downtown Winnetka location to the south side of the North Shore suburb of Chicago. The move close to its former location made many of its customers happy, since they wouldn’t need to travel too far to get their shopping fix. The women’s apparel and accessories boutique is popular among the fashion-forward set who appreciate the owner’s carefully curated selection of cute dresses, tops and bottoms, as well as jewelry and handbags.
Owner Courtney Kafkis put her fashion sense to work when she opened her boutique in 2010. After her landlord raised her rent in her Hubbard Woods location, she scouted a new space immediately. She took the move as an opportunity to create a more vintage-y vibe, which correlates nicely with the aesthetic of her pieces - whether it’s a bohemian top or pair of shorts or a classic little black dress. Dresses range from $40-70.

The jewelry is meant to be noticed, whether it’s bold-colored bib statement necklaces or beaded rings. The dresses can be dressed up or down depending on how they’re paired, and Kafkis is on-hand to provide recommendations on how to accessorize depending on the occasion. Many of the designs feature clever cutouts or beautiful details for interest.
Wooden pallets line the wall as part of the merchandising displays on one side, while elegant wallpaper featuring tiaras on another wall gives the shop a nice visual balance.
