Cross-country skis (includes boots and poles) rent for $20, snowshoes for $15 ($13 children ages 10 and younger. The Arboretum boasts 1,700 acres on the rolling Valparaiso moraine. Try snow shoeing - the only qualification is the ability to walk so there's no learning curve, just outdoor quiet time with your partner.
