Confusing? Maybe at times but Indianapolis has two marvelous Marriott hotels in the city's downtown. The Indianapolis Marriott Downtown was built in 2001 and was the largest hotel in Indiana until its big brother - the JW Marriott Indianapolis - was constructed in 2011.
The Indianapolis Marriott Downtown is located at 350 West Maryland Street. The JW Marriott Indianapolis - nicknamed "The Big Blue" for quite obvious reasons - is at 105 South West Street.
But this is entry is supposed to deal with the Indianapolis Marriott Downtown so from now on, that is the Marriott we are talking about. The 622 guest rooms feature luxurious bed linens, desks with ergonomic chairs, refrigerators and 37-inch flat screen TVs. Contemporary art with a classical modern design adds to the decor. The hotel underwent a massive renovation in 2008.
Connected via skywalk to the Indiana Convention Center and Circle Centre Mall, the Indianapolis Marriott Downtown is just steps away from Lucas Oil Stadium and many attractions. The 19-story hotel offers a fitness center, indoor pool and spa, gift shop and two concierge floors.
Equipped with more than 25 flat-screen TVS, Champions Sports Bar is a great place to watch the Colts, if you can't go to a game in person. The bar was voted by MSN as the best place to watch the NFL in Indy.
