Dublin clubs have long been plagued by strict licensing laws preventing them from operating after-hours like their European counterparts. This has had a particular effect on the electronic music scene and calls for reform have been numerous over the years.

If you’re acquainted with the Berlin nightclub scene, you’ll know that day parties are all the rage and here in Dublin there are more and more promoters looking to emulate this popularity. No one is doing it better however, than the Dark Horse Inn.

Located on the Quays and overlooking the Liffey, you’ll find a queue snaking around the corner of this early house as the sun rises. Come 7am the doors open and a mix of all-night ravers and early risers come together to listen to world class DJs. Previous acts that have headlined ‘The Breakfast Club’ include Kate Simko, Tevo Howard and Lerosa, and this only looks set to continue with an upcoming set from German producer Moomin. The Dark Horse Inn is gaining notoriety on Resident Advisor as a great place to party, and upon entering you can see why. Drinks are cheap (pints are €3) and the people love the music; the only thing you’ll find disconcerting is walking into the Dublin air at 2pm having already danced for 5 hours. If you want to stick to regular clubbing hours then fear not. Night spots like Sidetracked cater for those looking to party under cover of darkness.
