Brother Hubbard has graced the 10 Best Lists several times due to it’s excellent coffee, food and desserts that often convert a first time customer into a dedicated regular. Located on Dublin’s trendy Capel Street, it’s set apart from the usual thoroughfare but is well worth taking a detour to.

The coffee is supplied by 3FE and is made by the lovely Bruno, who pays extra attention to your latte art as well as delivering the perfect cup of coffee. The brownies, cakes and scones with orange blossom butter are utterly addictive while the main menu contains some absolute delights. The beef sandwich with horseradish is of particular note, as is the spiced chickpea soup that comes with soft bread and hummus. Tea is supplied by revered Dublin tea shop Wall and Keogh and if you prefer a cold drink, then you can’t go wrong with either their orange and lemon barley water or their raspberry apple and rose juice.

The staff are incredibly attentive and make every effort to keep the standard of service and food high. If you find yourself sharing a table outside in the courtyard, you’ll be informed when a seat becomes available elsewhere although you will miss out on the edible garden that’s being cultivated. This is a really charming place with a great, high quality menu. It’s the perfect place to drop in to if you’ve been sightseeing around the Christchurch area but is well worth making the effort to go to regardless.
