Before you know it, a side door has opened nearby and you’re being led through back passages and service areas into its latest location; it’s quiet and reserved save for the sound of cocktail shaking coming from bartender Paul Lambert.

This s a speak-easy and the rules, as detailed on the final page of the menu, are clear about this. No phone use, no loud or raucous behavior and no approaching women. Your drinks come accompanied by a palate-cleansing water and the prices are incredibly reasonable for such a high-quality list of drinks. Music is often booked for the nights, and the whole experience has an air of class and sophistication despite having to leave through a side entrance.
