If Cocktails Are Your Thing Then Heading to the Blind Pig Is a Must

This secret speak-easy is changing the Dublin cocktail scene behind closed doors

The Blind Pig is a new and welcome addition to the cocktail scene in Dublin. The city is often overrun with a plethora of overly-sweet, luminous concoctions that have little resemblance to the types of drinks once celebrated in bars all over the world, the Blind Pig serves the direct opposite.

Currently pitching up in new, secret locales each month, the Blind Pig gives you a phone number and a location to arrive at before calling to inform your guide that you have come to see the Blind Pig. Before you know it, a side door has opened nearby and you’re being led through back passages and service areas into its latest location; it’s quiet and reserved save for the sound of cocktail shaking coming from bartender Paul Lambert.

The Blind Pig has a comprehensive list of classic cocktails and long drinks that include plenty of rare and exotic liquors. This s a speak-easy and the rules, as detailed on the final page of the menu, are clear about this. No phone use, no loud or raucous behavior and no approaching women. Your drinks come accompanied by a palate-cleansing water and the prices are incredibly reasonable for such a high-quality list of drinks. Music is often booked for the nights, and the whole experience has an air of class and sophistication despite having to leave through a side entrance.

For any mixology aficionados, this is definitely the place to wet your whistle. The Blind Pig’s Facebook and Twitter feeds are regularly updated with the latest times and places to begin your experience, just don’t turn up too drunk.
