The Marker Hotel's Rooftop Lounge: Enjoy Panoramic Dublin Views

This rooftop lounge is the first of its kind, so grab some grub and head up

On nice days, Dubliners clamor to have a tipple on one of the city's only rooftop bars. The Marker Hotel has made the most daring of moves amidst the often inclement climate by installing a full rooftop bar that overlooks the Grand Canal basin. Here, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the Dublin mountains rolling down to the Dublin Bay.

These views are accentuated all the more by the opportunity to soak up a few rays when skies are sunny, while you drink a perfectly crafted cocktail or a cool beer. The Marker is also one step ahead when it comes to Dublin's ever-changeable weather: they have a set of heavy blankets in their signature black and gold colors to keep you warm when the wind starts up on colder days. For, in fact, the lounge is open for limited hours even during winter months.

During the summer, the lounge also serves light food. Once 5 p.m. has come and gone, you can order from the bar menu that has a surprisingly interesting range of bites, from fresh-shucked Galway oysters to salmon ceviche and baked chorizo - all with pairings of interesting craft beers from both Ireland and abroad.

It’s usually best to arrive early to avoid disappointment. When the weather is good, you might find it hard to give up your spot. If you want the full panorama, opt for a high chair beside the glass fencing. If you’re happy to just enjoy the breeze, then the couches either on the terrace or under the canopy are ideal for relaxing.
