About Rathmines

Recently voted as one of the top places to live in Ireland, Rathmines is experiencing something of a revival as a cool suburban alternative to the city centre. With its own high street and a wealth of cool bars and restaurants as well as brilliant vintage shops you can see why.
Eat
One of the top spots to eat in Rathmines is undoubtedly Jo'burger. Run by Joe Macken, somewhat of a culinary mogul in Dublin at the moment, Jo'burger was his original venture and it's brand of high-end and delicious burgers regularly has customers waiting half an hour for a spot in his Rathmines joint. The restaurant stays open late and has great music combined with a good beer selection and delicious burgers and sides that beat out much of the 'gourmet burger' competition that you'll see around the city.
Party
Rathmines has several nice pubs and bars to choose from but if you're looking for ambiance, good prices and an authentic 'Irish pub' feel then you need look no further than Mother Reilly's or 'Ma Reilly's' as it is affectionately known to its clientele. With flagstone floors, worn wooden furniture with old oak beams it conjures up a cosy, warm atmosphere while the beer garden is often hopping with young and old alike. On Friday's you will usually find some live music as well to get you into the swing of things.
Shop
One little known secret about the charity shops in Rathmines is that they get a really amazing haul of clothes. In particular is the Irish Cancer Society which promises vintage fare as well as second hand clothes and in fact contains every young woman's dream - leftover stock from Urban Outfitters. Here you can snap up last season's stuff at a fraction of the price while donating to a good cause as well, what's not to love?
