This paper and stationary shop was opened in Piazza Pitti in 1856 by Pietro Giannini. He began with book binding and then his son Giulio Senior moved into binding artistic and production of leather goods. During the Victorian era, Florence was home to many large and wealthy English families and the workshop of Giulio Giannini became one of the shops most popular and famous for books and albums for the wealthy. Through the years each son brought something new to the product. Now after 6 generations of Giannini's they still continue the activities of the old shop, Guido Junior (Generation V) and Maria have begun the production of cards called "marbled" as they are used to coat objects which have always characterized the production Giannini.
