Fatamorgana Opens a Gelateria in Monti — Photo courtesy of _e.tUnfortunately there's plenty of bad gelato to be had in Rome. If you don't know where to turn to indulge in this tasty treat, you could end up with a disappointing gelato experience. A popular Roman staple and a leader in deliciously decadent dessert circles is Fatamorgana. The gelateria takes pride in producing original flavors with all natural ingredients and completely gluten-free. What makes this gelateria insanely popular you ask? For starters, Fatamorgana doesn't just serve your average run-of-the-mill chocolate, pistachio and cream flavors. Rather, this gelateria prides itself in taking your palate where it possibly has never gone before. Sounds far-fetched, but it's the truth.
With the new opening of Fatamorgana's new gelato shop in Piazza degli Zingari in Rome's Monti neighborhood, now you have the perfect excuse to try some of these deliciously daring flavors. Some big winners are zucca con semi carmellati (pumpkin with carmelized seeds); pera al gorgonzola (pear with gorgonzola cheese); finocchio, miele e liquirizia (fennel, honey and licorice); pecorino, miele di castagna e buccia d'arancio (percorino cheese, chestnut honey and orange peel); and venere rosa (black rice with rosebuds). Can someone please say buonooooo?
Fatamorgana also has two other locations aside from its newest Monti shop. One is located in the Salario-Nomentana neighborhood near the Villa Ada Park and the other is located in Prati.
