When Italian food in Rome starts to get old, there are plenty of options by way of ethnic food for you to choose from. If you're into Chinese, you'll definitely want to check out the new kid on the block, Il Padiglione delle Cicogne which recently opened its doors near the Vatican.

After a long hard day of touring the Vatican Museums and St. Peter's Square, just a few stops away on the metro line is where you'll find this delightful little Chinese restaurant. The newly opened restaurant is run by an Italo-Chinese couple. While Chinese restaurants in Rome come a dime a dozen, it's not always easy to find good quality Chinese food in a modern, upscale setting. The decor at this restaurant is an almost all-white affair apart from the yellow table clothes and the yellow and red Chinese balloon lamps.

Their wonton and hot and sour soups are also delicious. Wondering what to order for your main course? The spare ribs or chicken with cashews are excellent, as is the squid 'Shandong' style. When all else fails, soy noodles with meat or with vegetables always does the trick. Don't forget about dessert. The fried bananas and fried pineapples are oh-so-tempting.
