The Duomo is one of the most important sights to see in Orvieto thanks to its important example of gothic architecture. It was constructed under orders by Pope Urban IV around 1290 and took nearly three centuries to be completed. What attracts visitors the most to this Duomo aside from its superb gothic style are its glimmering golden mosaic tiles on its facade and its chapels which include painted frescoes with images of the Last Judgement.
