After a long hard day of touring the Vatican Museums and St. Peter's Square, just a few stops away on the metro line is a delightful little Chinese restaurant called Il Padiglione delle Cicogne. The restaurant which just recently opened a few months ago is run by an Italo-Chinese couple. Albeit, Chinese restaurants in Rome come a dime a dozen. Yet it's not always easy to find good quality Chinese food in a modern, upscale setting. Its decor is an almost all white-affair apart from the yellow table clothes and the yellow and red Chinese balloon lamp. Padiglione is the perfect alternative for those looking for a break from pizza and pasta. Dishes to try here are the regular spring rolls and the 'Special' spring rolls made with prawns and prosciutto. Their wonton and hot and sour soups are also delicious. Wondering what to order for your main course? The spare ribs or chicken with cashews as is the squid 'Shandong' style. When all else fails, soy noodles with meat or with vegetables always does the trick!
