Pamper Yourself to a Haircut in Rome — Photo courtesy of Photos by LinaFirst things first. Before you paint the town red, you know a gal's gotta look pretty. Obviously that means you (ladies) have a lot of primping and prepping to do for your girls' night out. Don't feel like doing your hair and make up? No problem! There's a fabulous hair salon with stylists that speak English in the centro storico of Rome that are just waiting to pamper you and make you look mooolto bella. The owner of Twentyone 21 Hair and Make-Up, Marco Fava has experience working with tourists, expats and locals and has a very keen eye for fashion, given his background in the industry.
APERITIVO
Grabbing a Drink with the Girls — Photo courtesy of aoife macAfter Marco's done making you look like you've just stepped out of a salon (literally), it's time to go to happy hour. In Italy, happy hour is also known as aperitivo. An aperitivo is a time when bars and cafés, typically in the centro storico of Rome offer its customers a buffet of finger foods (i.e. pasta, sandwiches and veggies) for the price of a drink. Aperitivo time typically takes place between 7-9pm and the average cost for a drink is usually around €7-10 depending on the place. In Italy, aperitivo time is when friends and colleagues get together after work and catch up over drinks.
One bar that is absolutely trendissimo right now for grabbing a drink with friends is Fluid. The atmosphere here is cool and funky. Girls love primping themselves on the sleek ice cube seats while gossiping about the boys they met at the Spanish Steps over some of Fluid's finest fruity cocktails.
For some celeb sightings or rubbing shoulders with Roma's per bene (classy) crowd, make sure to hit up Salotto 42. If you don't make it here early enough, you could be left without a plushy place to sit. But that's okay. This is the spot for those who want to see and be seen and since you have your girls with you, why not mix and mingle with this sexy Roman crowd?
DINNER
If you still have room in your stomach and feel like going for dinner with your gal pals, head on over to Recafé near Piazza di Spagna. At this restaurant, you'll have some of the best pizza napoletana that you can find in Rome. Don't feel like pizza? No worries, Recafé makes a mean steak and can also whip up some good cooked veggies too. The atmosphere here is casual yet chic and the perfect place to share a dinner with friends.
DANCING
Dance Your Socks Off — Photo courtesy of messycupcakesAfter you're done with dinner, you and the girls are ready to shake your things on the dance floor. Dubbed as Rome's new it-girl on the nightclub scene is Shari Vari Playhouse (Via di Torre Argentina, 78). The club, which was formerly known as the Supper Club, is huge. It has three levels of rooms to choose from, featuring hip-hop, retro, house and dance music. Much smaller but also a favorite, especially among foreigners is La Maison (Vicolo dei Granari, 3). Meanwhile, Cabala (Via dei Soldati, 25) is a bit hit on Thursday nights.
