Located near the Kittery traffic circle off of Rt. 236, Fair Tide’s thrift store was established to support this non-profit’s efforts to create transitional housing for local homeless families. Proceeds from store sales help to provide shelter, counseling services, and life and job skills training for these families which, in effect, moves them toward independence and self-sufficiency. A very good cause to support.
Because Fair Tide is favored by many successful families in the area, it’s inventory features a remarkable variety of almost new, quality items. And because it is a thrift shop, after all, the prices for these items are very affordable. It is not unusual to find top name designer coats, shirts, slacks, sweaters, jackets, dresses, and other clothes among Fair Tide’s racks which are priced at a fraction (think 65 to 90 percent discount) of the original cost. Finding terrific bargains is a common occurrence among shoppers.

In addition to clothing offerings, the store also has a wide selection of knick knacks such as furniture and accessories, print and audio books, as well as shoes, belts, and even eye glasses.
While most of what is available are women’s fashions, there is also a respectable amount of men’s clothes for sale. What’s more, the atmosphere within this shop is friendly, welcoming and well organized. Clothes are pressed and cleaned before being put up for display. The staff is friendly and usually eager to help (even offering second opinions on potential purchases!).
For those who enjoy the hunt for that incredibly priced fashion find, Fair Tide Thrift Shop is definitely worth a visit while visiting the south Maine coast.
