Could the winning recipe be that Red Maple performs triple duty as a restaurant, bar and a nightclub? The music varies each night that this Mount Vernon night spot is open - this allows them to keep things fresh. On any given night you might hear deep drums and bass, then the next night it could be global soul, or hip-hop classics or good old-fashioned house music. One thing's for sure: the club knows how to cater to different sensibilities. International DJs, out-of-town guests, fashion shows, themed parties and other surprises keep the club-goers guessing.
Red Maple's newest themed offering, "Weenies and Martinis," is an after-work weekly event that kicks off at 4:30 pm and goes until 10 pm. This "happy hour," which gives you a lot of bang for your buck by running for 5 1/2 hours includes a DJ, $1 all beef hot dogs, $2 chicken skewers and drink specials. When the "hour" is over, don't expect bar food from Red Maple.
One of the appealing features of the club, besides its romantic fireplace and modern lounge decor, is its food. The dishes and menu offerings that you'll find here rival any local restaurant in Baltimore. Items like the shrimp and water chestnut dumplings or the crispy oyster sliders will have you forgetting that you're at a nightclub. It's a good thing that the loud music and lively crowd will help to remind you.
