About Mt Vernon
Mount Vernon is one of Baltimore’s oldest neighborhoods and designated as an historical district. Named after George Washington’s home, the Mount Vernon community is full of art, history, shopping and entertainment. The cobble stone streets you will see sprinkled throughout the neighborhood add that 19th century charm, deleted from so many areas throughout the city. Mt. Vernon is best known for The Washington Monument - the first monument built in the United States in honor of the nation's first president; the Basilica of the Assumption - the first Catholic Cathedral in the United States; Center Stage; and the Belvedere Hotel.
