It seems everyone is in the burger business, even the Wahlburg family. They've timed a rapid Wahlburgers expansion that will include a Fenway Park location of their popular south shore eatery with their reality TV show, and they're set for the success you'd expect from such a famous Boston-born family.
But Wahlburgers' famous name isn't what has brought the masses in droves to their Hingham Shipyard original spot; it's the food. Recipes are created and recreated until perfect, and food is brought in fresh for daily prep. Meanwhile, their boozed up shakes entice adults to come through their doors on dates more than any other Boston area burger joint.

Order the melt and get all the nostalgia of your youth, or go with the turkey and find yourself enjoying the best of Thanksgiving between two buns. If you're a burger purist, the original is just the thing for you. If you prefer to skip the burger altogether, the seasonal selection of salads are well worth a try.
With the restaurant's pub-like atmosphere, you can come in solo and grab a seat at the bar for a burger and a beer while watching a game on the big screens around you. Or score a table and enjoy being waited on by the friendly servers who are happy to bring you what you need. These little extras class up Wahlburgers in a way that's new to Boston area burger-focused restaurants.
Lacking a movie star investor, Smashburger gives guests a fast food fix with a bit less greasy mess. Located outside of Boston in a suburban strip mall in Natick, Smashburger makes for the ideal ending to your day of shopping at the Natick Mall across the way.

Order their signature Smashburger, complete with Smash sauce and a side of their Smash fries dressed with rosemary, garlic and olive oil. Or come up with your own creation, then decide if you'd like beef or chicken inside.
Here, they're always thinking of ways to make their fast food appeal to the health-conscious, so you'll find fresh salads as well as a black bean burger on their menu.
Well known in New York for years, Shake Shack has finally come to Boston. With locations in Harvard Square and right near Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Shake Shack often finds itself with lines out the door.
Serving burgers reminiscent of the fast food of your youth, but with far better flavor and quality, Shake Shack uses only hormone- and antibiotic-free beef between their buns.

Shake Shack tops each with a select few unique offerings. A fan favorite is the Smokeshack, a classic cheeseburger topped with applewood-smoked bacon, chopped cherry peppers and Shack sauce. This sandwich offers diners their burger fix with just a bit of a spicy kick.
You won't find much more in the way of main course offerings beyond burgers and dogs, because Shake Shack is comfortable with its identity as an old-school-style burger joint. The only out of the ordinary offerings come in the form of alcohol; Shake Shake serves a small but special selection of beer and wine.
Don't leave without dessert. Sample one of their famous not-too-thick, not-too-thin shakes, or venture into their world of frozen custard, where daily special flavors and concrete creations will have you heading back simply for these special treats.
