[PHOTO_207578]Travel along Boston's Emerald Necklace and you'll encounter its crown jewel, The Franklin Park Zoo. One of the best Zoos around, the Franklin Park Zoo is really worth seeing. The Franklin Park Zoo is a whopping 72-acres packed with wildlife that has been in Boston's historic Franklin Park for one hundred years! Along with their usual animal exhibits, the Zoo often holds special events, celebrations, and wildlife exhibits. Bostonians love this Zoo so much that they often purchase memberships to this inner city animal kingdom. 2012 marks the Zoo's centennial, and no one could be more proud than those who work to keep the Zoo active.

Opening new exhibits and spaces for guest to enjoy, along with holding special single day events throughout the year, the Franklin Park Zoo continues to improve. An innovative playground is part of 2012's new additions. Filled with bright bold colors and structures that mirror animals that can be found in the Zoo this is a space where kids can ride a Panamanian golden frog rocker, push themselves down the giraffe inspired tube slide, or climb on a peacock-esque structure that is sure to wow. This 10,000square foot addition will let kids and their imaginations run wild!
