Brunch around Boston can get busy and feel, quite honestly, rushed. But head just slightly northwest of the city's center and you'll find A Tavola in Winchester. Just off the quaint common that sits in the middle of this beautiful town is where A Tavola makes its home. Serving an eclectic Italian menu, A Tavola offers dinner Tuesday-Saturday, and tops off their reputation for culinary prowess with a relaxed, delicious Sunday brunch.

The menu is small and filled with simple pleasures like their seasonal vegetable frittata. The spring variety I sampled was exquisite! Filled with morsels of super fresh vegetables like ramps and peas, this egg based dish was a treat for the palate. The side of bacon I ordered provided just enough salty goodness to balance the fresh flavors of the frittata.

But the savory frittata does not stand alone in its greatness. The french toast was perfectly prepared: thick and fluffy brioche served with berries and real maple syrup. This is a breakfast that is more a dessert than a main dish, and made to satisfy a sweet tooth.

Not to be missed, however, are the home made Bomboloni. These house-made doughnuts come out piping hot with a crisp enough exterior that the chewy interior is only made better by dipping them in the delicious chantilly cream and Nutella that accompany them.

Top this morning off with a fresh squeezed juice, mimosa or Bloody Mary, and you have brunch perfection without ever feeling like your table needs to be turned.
