Downtown Boston is the heart of the city. But finding where it starts and ends can be tough. It is closely surrounded by Beacon Hill, Back Bay, and the Theater District. This central location, surrounded by other great neighborhoods allows Downtown to flourish day and night. Some of the best hotels are in the Downtown neighborhood, and more often than not these hotels are home to bars and restaurants that should not be overlooked, it is also a great place for a good meal as restaurants range from upscale eateries to excellent and inexpensive places to stop and not to be overlooked are the collection of great take out spots; great to gather items for a picnic in one of the parks. Nightlife should not be overlooked, as bars and clubs are all within a short walk.
