Baja California Sur – which comprises the southern portion of the approximately 800-mile-long Baja California peninsula – is lightly populated outside popular vacation destinations like Los Cabos and La Paz, and thus offers miles of open roads that feature striking desert scenery, mountainous backdrops and breathtaking glimpses of both the Sea of Cortés and the Pacific Ocean.
Cabo San Lucas is the state’s premier tourist draw, and visitors commonly seek accommodations in the Land’s End city, renting cars or four-wheel drive vehicles for occasional day trip forays to sister city San José del Cabo, the artists’ colony of Todos Santos, the capital city of La Paz, the rustic and beautiful East Cape and other notable regional attractions.
Although four-wheel drive is a necessity for many of the dirt roads found on the East Cape and in some inland communities, drivers sticking to well-traveled highways and byways needn’t lack for excitement. Those with a “born to be wild” spirit – or at least a mild thirst for adventure – can visit Harley-Davidson Los Cabos, which rents motorcycles by the day from their store at Puerto Paraíso shopping mall on the Cabo San Lucas Marina.

In addition to being the go-to spot for official Harley-Davidson gear – from shirts and pants to hats, handbags, wallets and leather jackets – Harley-Davidson Los Cabos also handles single-day (USD $200) and multi-day (USD $175 per day) rentals for Heritage Softail Classics, Road King Classics, Road Touring Guides and other throaty V-twin hogs from the legendary Milwaukee-based motorcycle manufacturer.
To rent a Harley-Davidson in Cabo San Lucas, one must be 21 years of age or older, possess a valid U.S. or Mexican driver’s license and have some motorcycle riding experience.
Another prerequisite is a USD $2,000 deposit for an insurance deductible, which is completely refundable if no damages are incurred.
A passing knowledge of Spanish language street signs is recommended, if not explicitly required. Helmets and saddle bags are included, and there are no limits on mileage.
Harley-Davidson Los Cabos is located on the first floor of Puerto Paraíso, and it's accessible from the street-side entrance on Lázaro Cárdenas or from the marina boardwalk via Kobe beef burger specialist WTF.
The store does a brisk business with souvenir hunters looking for licensed Los Cabos-themed gear, and it's also a popular meeting place for local motorcycle club members, who often stop by to shop for parts or discuss upcoming rides and other events.
