In Cabo San Lucas, like-minded establishments often end up grouped together. Most of the town's top nighclubs are located within a block of Plaza Bonita. A succession of good restaurants line Calle Hidalgo, from the town square, Plaza Amelia Wilkes, to the main drag that arcs around the Marina. Many of the top sports bars are within a block of each other on that main drag, also known as Boulevard Marina. There are no ready explanations for this phenomenon, but it exists nonetheless.

Cabo Cantina is one of the top sports bars, and it separates itself from neighboring competitors by dint of better food and auxiliary courtyard seating that can be set up for heavyweight fights and other big-time events. It's also situated right next door to the Play Win Casino and Sports Book, a fact greatly appreciated by visiting gamblers. The open-air, palapa-topped cantina boasts a central downtown location at Plaza Nautica, an upscale condominium development that overlooks the Marina, with nearly a dozen flat-screen televisions showcasing all the latest games and matches from the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and beyond.

In addition to the televised entertainment, and occasional live performances from top local musicians, Cabo Cantina distinguishes itself during daylight hours with excellent pub-style comfort food, from Mexican specialties like tacos and fajitas to American favorites like burgers and bbq sandwiches. The dinner menu is a bit more impressive, and includes pastas, steaks, and fresh local seafood. Surf and turf combos include a delicious lobster tail accompanied by a hearty 10 oz. Angus rib-eye. Cabo Cantina also serves beer from Baja Brewing Company, the state's first microbrewery.
