Beachfront drinking and dining have long been specialties in Cabo San Lucas. But the newly minted The Moxitos Beach Club takes these traditional local pleasures to a new level. Here, they serve up an intoxicating mix of fresh local seafood, signature cocktails and live music on the shores of Médano Beach.
There is something magical about digging your toes into soft sand mere steps from the Sea of Cortez, as you crack open a lobster tail and take a refreshing sip of your lime-garnished tropical cocktail. Perhaps it is the pleasurable contrast of a cool drink on a warm night, or the sensory overload brought on by the smell of the sea, the sound of lapping waves and the feel of your bare feet burrowing into the sand. Or perhaps it is simply the joy of sharing this experience with friends, family or that special someone at spots like The Moxitos Beach Club.

The Moxitos Beach Club is a rebranding of the former The Medano Beach Club, utilizing a 'Mexicanized' spelling for mojito, the refreshing Cuban cocktail that has achieved widespread popularity in recent years. Although it retains the same ownership, the club's new name - unveiled on January 1, 2014 - is a more accurate representation of the club's strengths, namely, its tropical seaside atmosphere and superb specialty drinks.
The easy coexistence of cocktail quaffers in bikinis and boardshorts and barefoot fine diners is a signature aspect of the Médano Beach scene, and one that reaches its ultimate expression at Mango Deck, where filet mignon, steamed lobster and sex position contests enjoy equal prominence.
But although Moxitos shares the same scenic setting as its beachfront brethren, it is making a concerted effort to separate itself from the competition by offering more romantic dinnertime entertainment and placing a renewed emphasis on first-class food, drinks and service.

The best time to visit this seaside establishment is just before sunset, when sailboats and the occasional cruise ship dot the bay, and the sky is beginning to redden beyond Land's End. As if the incredible natural beauty of this scene were not enough, Moxitos mixes in a few more memorable ingredients: a rotating cast of acoustic guitarists who strum romantic ballads and theatrical waitstaff, who prepare some of the club's signature drinks and dishes tableside (most notably the delicious Caesar salads and maraschino-topped flaming coffee cocktails).
In addition to its sparkling signature cocktails - which are available with light rum and white sugar, or dark rum and brown sugar - The Moxitos Beach Club offers an excellent array of traditional Mexican and seafood combo dishes, including an impressive nariscada seafood platter for two with lobster tails, jumbo shrimp, crab, octopus and fish fillets. The dish is served with melted garlic butter and sides of rice and grilled vegetables.
A large selection of beers, wines and tequilas are also available at this beach.
