Finisterra dates to Cabo San Lucas' early days as a tourist destination, and was the first of the great Pedregal resorts. It was built by Luis Coppola, with contributions from Luis Bulnes, who went on to found the neighboring Solmar Group of hotels. Finisterra had lost a bit of luster in recent years, so the acquisition of the property by the Spanish Sandos hotel and resort group was welcome in many ways, and numerous renovations and upgrades have already been made. The Blue Marlin restaurant is still around, but visitors will find that the hotel's signature restaurant now is Don Diego, an upscale buffet-themed eatery that features international-style cuisine. The food and service are excellent, and the bay views are magnificent.
