In recent years, top chefs in Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo have increasingly relied on the region’s many organic farms, pairing fresh local produce with the area’s traditional dining staple, fresh local seafood. The result has been healthier, better tasting food, and a wealth of delicious options for diet-conscious visitors.

Two of the best restaurants in Los Cabos are set on organic farms near San José del Cabo. Flora’s Field Kitchen is a long-time local fine dining favorite that overlooks a 10-acre field at Flora Farms, with meats sourced from their adjoining 150 acre ranch. Huerta Los Tamarindos (huerta is Spanish for orchard), like Flora Farms, boasts its own organic garden, as well as an onsite restaurant and organic market, and also offers tours and cooking classes.

Vegan and vegetarian menus are available at each of The Resort at Pedregal’s onsite restaurants, including the magnificent cliffside aerie El Farallón, best known for its superb, locally sourced seafood. The Restaurant at Las Ventanas al Paraíso, a benchmark Tourist Corridor lodging, supplements the organic fruits and vegetables used in its delicious Baja Med style dishes with spices from its own herb garden. Penny Lane specializes in healthy, hearty and delicious organic fare, from fresh squeezed juices (try the hangover healer, with parsley, watercress, broccoli and pineapple) and coffee to freshly baked breads and pastries, and country style omelets. For late risers, lunchtime offerings include salads, pastas, wraps, traditional Mexican dishes, and a signature hamburger grilled with blue cheese. Gluten free options are available, and the restaurant is also home - twice per week (Wednesdays and Saturdays, 7 a.m. - 3 p.m.) - to an organic produce market.

El Farallón's wow-factor asset is a breathtaking cliffside setting overlooking the Pacific Ocean at the exclusive Resort at Pedregal in Cabo San Lucas. The restaurant looks out over a 10-acre organic field at Flora Farm, so close diners can almost reach out and touch the food they'll soon be eating. Well, actually the meat is sourced from a nearby ranch, but you get the picture. This is fine dining at its most intimate. And it is fine dining. The food is superb, and ranges from gourmet pizzas to heartier fare like farm-raised pork or homemade pastas. Sunday brunch is especially popular, although reservations are recommended for any visit to the restaurant. The adjacent Farm Bar serves up fresh fruit juices, wine, craft beer and cocktails.
