10Best Itinerary: Enjoy a Long, Luxurious Weekend in Cancun

First class weekend includes Ritz-Carlton, Puerto Madero, and a cruise

Day 1

If you are planning the luxury weekend of all weekends there is no better option than the Ritz Carlton. The Cancun version is the only Ritz Carlton hotel in Mexico and one of only three AAA Five-Diamond resorts in the Hotel Zone. Check in and head for your plush room which will include amenities like an iPod docking station, on-demand video offerings, two-line telephones, high-speed Internet access, and a fully stocked refreshment bar. Next, change and head for the pool or beach and order a top shelf cocktail. You’re in Cancun!

That evening, head for the informal but elegant Argentinean restaurant Puerto Madero. Enjoy excellent service while you dine on impeccably prepared steak and fish. Ask your concierge at the Ritz to make a reservation for you.

Day 2

After a delicious breakfast in El Café Mexicano in the Ritz Carlton, head for the Admiral Yacht Club, located at km 5.8 of the Hotel Zone, where you will board a private chartered luxury yacht and sail the azure Caribbean Sea at your leisure. Fish, snorkel, or just relax and work on your tan while the crew serves you beverages and snacks. After this unforgettable trip, head to Lorenzillo's for a traditional lobster dinner and a spectacular sunset over Nichupte Lagoon accompanied by a bottle of Latin American wine from their wine cellar. Lorenzillo's is a Cancun seafood fine dining institution.

Day 3

If it’s a little cloudy today it’s the perfect time to get a Mayan inspired treatment (or three) at the Ritz Carlton Spa. Try the Romantic Couples Massage, a rose petal Caribbean-infused feet cleansing followed by an aromatic massage or a Mayan Renewal Bath that promotes the stimulation of well-being and muscular regeneration with the infusion of medicinal mint leaves, precious wood, lemon rind and seeds of annatto, followed up by a body exfoliation and a moisturizing organiccactus facial mask.

Then head to Plaza Las Americas in downtown Cancun to see a movie at the Cinepolis VIP movie theater. The theater features waiters, large comfy seats and a huge screen. You won’t be happy with a regular movie theater after you visit this one. Since you are already downtown, have dinner at La Habichuela, a beautiful romantic Yucatecan restaurant in Parque las Palapas. This is undoubtedly one of the finest restaurants in Cancun. Order the Caesar salad and the waiter will prepare it tableside, and the Cocobichuela, their signature entrée; lobster inside a coconut. Take a stroll around the park when you are finished and see how many local families spend an evening together.

Day 4

This morning you’ll have to be at Marina Aquatours at 9:00 am sharp so you don’t miss the departure of your Dolphin Discovery Royal Swim tour. This day will be one you will never forget. You’ll have breakfast on the boat ride to Isla Mujeres and after attending a short orientation you’ll be able to spend time with the dolphins. Afterwards, head to their VIP Lounge which offers a spectacular view of the Caribbean from an infinity pool, premium drinks and an international buffet.
