Tucked away in an old hotel on Tulum Avenue, across the street from the bus station in downtown Cancun, is a local secret:  Taste of India. Open daily from 7:00 am to 11:00 pm for breakfast, lunch and dinner, this hidden gem doesn’t look like much from the outside, but inside it's large and nicely decorated. The place has a lovely ambiance, including Bollywood videos for your viewing enjoyment. Fresh, authentic Indian food is what you’ll get at Taste of India. The prices are reasonable and the portions generous.

Owner Gulab Singh Rana, who is ever present in the restaurant, founded Taste of India with ‘the intention of delighting palates by bringing the scents and flavors of quality authentic Indian food to Cancun.’ The chefs are from India and prepare traditional typical dishes from the region. The spice masala is used, which is essential in Indian food. The naan bread is delicious and the menu features a large vegetarian offering. Be careful; you may begin to drool if you peruse their Facebook page!

Taste of India has been open for 4 years: an eternity in Cancun. This is amazing food, so order extra dishes and bread to go! Eating here once won’t be enough.
