AAA Five Diamond Hotel Award resort, the JW Marriott in Cancun, announced that they will now provide wedding packages to same-sex couples. The state of Quintana Roo, home of Cancun, Playa del Carmen and many other popular tourist destinations, recently legalized same-sex marriage. Balmy weather, an average of 240 sunny days per year, white sand beaches and the aqua-blue Caribbean Sea make Cancun an ideal setting for a wedding.
The JW Marriott employs an on-site wedding planner and social event planner, and wedding venues include a Catholic chapel and an outdoor gazebo with an ocean view. The resort is even offering a special package for gay couples, the "Cancun for 2 Package," which includes a room upgrade, a $50 daily resort credit, Internet access, round-trip airport transportation, a bottle of wine during a dinner at one of their restaurants and a 25% discount on spa treatments. The package starts at $269 per night and is valid through December 21, 2012.
The JW Marriott is located in the Hotel Zone on a wide stretch of beach. The atmosphere can be described as sophisticated, but relaxed. Highlights include the spectacular infinity pool area, a world class Mayan inspired spa, and an outdoor dive pool with an artificial reef. Restaurants include the Sedona Grill for Caribbean seafood, Gustino Italian Grill, a poolside restaurant and a gourmet deli. The fitness center includes an indoor heated lap pool and state-of-the-art exercise equipment and an aerobics room.
